Home Stays PDF Print E-mail
From the growing request for home stays it is increasingly apparent that many visitors are, in addition to gaming, adventure and sight seeing, interested in being part of an interactive cross-cultural event. And what a better way to do this other than putting up with an African host family for a few days while in the country and being a part of their day to day activities?

Aramati Safaris runs a home stay program in partnership with various willing Christian families across the country and is in a position to assist you identify a suitable host family of your choice. Since the program is run with Christian families it assumes that the visitors are also Christian and thus will uphold Christian values during the period of the visit. .

A majority of the host families in our database live within the Nairobi city suburbs thus providing you with easy access to the city centre and most basic facilities. The period of the home stays vary depending on your intended visit. However the minimum is a week and this can spread to a month at most.

Research or educational based home stays assume that the visitor is interested in staying for more than a month while pursuing research in the immediate environs or community. Such stays require an ample notice period of not less than 6 months before we can be able to locate a suitable host family and does include rural homes.

To avoid a situation where the host family feels as though they are under scrutiny we strongly recommend to researchers not to include the host families in their research sample.

Procedure

Home stays are available to both individuals and groups. However groups should not exceed thirty people at a given time. The larger a group the longer the time taken for identifying suitable home stays and thus more time is required for notice of intent.

For the identification of appropriate host families a period of not less than 4 months' notice is required from the visitors. Upon application, Aramati Safaris reverts with a template brief form to be dully filled and submitted to the agency for processing. Upon filling the template the group pays a non refundable registration fee before the search for a host family can commence.

Once the suitable host is identified and both the host and the visitor are in agreement, Aramati Safaris charges a standard visitor's processing and administration fee. Daily accommodation rates are provided by Aramati Safaris upon negotiations with the host family.

As a precautionary measure visitors are expected to provide at least 2 referrals from people known to him or her personally and are of high moral standing and responsibility in the visitor’s home country.
